Construction has begun on four electricity expansion projects in Kabul and Parwan, with Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat putting their combined value at 468 million afghanis.
The work includes expansion of the East, Northwest and Qasaba substations and a 220-kilovolt transmission line from Kabul's Green Industries Park to the Barikab Industrial Park in Parwan. DABS says the projects are intended to strengthen the grid and improve supply to residential, commercial and industrial users.
The projects are expected to take one to two years to complete and are projected to create about 500 construction jobs. DABS says more than 250 power projects are currently underway nationwide as electricity demand continues to rise in urban and industrial areas.
