California Attorney General Rob Bonta's office said it served OpenAI with an investigative subpoena as part of an ongoing inquiry into cybersecurity incidents and risks involving the company and its AI models.
Bonta said frontier-model developers have responsibilities to prevent their systems from enabling cyberattacks. A subpoena is an investigative step and does not by itself establish a legal violation.
