Residents in parts of South Waziristan have reported seeing masked armed men who identified themselves as members of Islamic State Khorasan Province (IS-KP) conducting occasional roadside checks.
The accounts also say the men issued warnings over cooperation with authorities, girls’ education and public music events. Margalla News found no independent or official confirmation of this specific recent activity, the locations of the reported checks, the identities of those involved, or any permanent organizational presence by IS-KP.
The reports are therefore being presented as developing local-source accounts, not as evidence that IS-KP has established territorial control or permanent checkpoints in South Waziristan.
Separate recent reporting has documented IS-KP-linked claims and militant activity in the wider region. PICSS’s August 2026 security profile also noted an ISKP-claimed killing in Lower South Waziristan alongside broader militant activity. The scale and durability of the activity described in the latest reports remain unclear.
