Islamabad — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the number of direct beneficiaries of the fuel subsidy programme had exceeded ten million. He praised the joint role of federal, provincial and administrative institutions in implementing the scheme.

According to a report published on October 10, the prime minister said the programme faced several obstacles during planning but moved forward through coordination and information sharing among government bodies. He also announced a national honour for Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

The beneficiary figure was provided by the government. The subsidy programme's actual impact can be assessed through eligibility criteria, selection of recipients, the distribution of funds and independent auditing.
