Islamabad — According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics' Sensitive Price Indicator, inflation in essential goods for the week ending October 8 stood at 11.97% compared with the same period a year earlier. The week-on-week increase was 0.57%.
A report published on October 10 said prices rose for 20 of the 51 items surveyed, fell for six and remained broadly unchanged for 25. Increases in wheat flour and fuel prices were among the main contributors to overall pressure.
The Sensitive Price Indicator measures short-term trends for a specific basket of essential goods and must be distinguished from monthly inflation measured through the broader Consumer Price Index.
