Anthropic's revenue rose 45% to $16.8bn in the three months to the end of September, according to the BBC and Reuters, which said the figures were shared with prospective investors at the company's San Francisco headquarters on Wednesday.
Reuters, citing two people who attended the investor day, reported that revenue had grown from $4.7bn in the first quarter and $11.6bn in the second, and that Anthropic said it was profitable on an adjusted basis in the third quarter. The BBC said an Anthropic spokesperson declined to comment.
The briefing was intended to familiarise investors with the Claude developer before its expected initial public offering. Reuters reported that Anthropic is targeting a valuation of more than $2tn and that the listing is likely to come after the US midterm elections in November.
The figures arrive as technology shares come under pressure over heavy AI infrastructure spending. The BBC reported that chipmakers including AMD, Nvidia and Intel fell on Wednesday, while South Korea's Kospi was 7.6% lower and SoftBank shares fell 9% on Thursday morning.
Rival OpenAI is also weighing a listing, though chief executive Sam Altman said in September that it would not go public this year.
