PESHAWAR: According to Geo News, police have registered a case at Agha Mir Jani Shah police station on behalf of the state under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code (qatl-bis-sabab) against the owners, shareholders and construction contractor of a school in Dir Colony after a roof collapse.

The FIR records that 30 children and a female teacher were killed and 52 people were injured. It alleges substandard construction materials were used, the building was dilapidated, earlier complaints about walls and roofs went unheeded, and the roofs of a nursery classroom on the second floor and rooms on the ground floor collapsed.

According to the FIR, the school stood on a 16-marla plot owned by Waheed and Javed; the land was leased in 2024 and the building was then constructed. Police said efforts were under way to arrest those named.

An investigating officer said school owner Khan Muhammad had been arrested. In an earlier media talk he had attributed the collapse to several days of rainfall. Relatives of the victims have demanded accountability. More on Geo News.
