ISLAMABAD: According to Dawn, the opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP) on Wednesday announced it was suspending all negotiations with the government, saying there would be no talks until a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan is arranged and information about his health is provided.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the alliance's leadership at the residence of Mehmood Khan Achakzai, where it was agreed that all negotiating authority would rest solely with chairman Achakzai.
The meeting condemned the governor's rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a "robbery" and a midnight assault on the Constitution, demanded their withdrawal, and said it would petition the Peshawar High Court. The Centre imposed an emergency under Article 232 and governor's rule under Article 234 on Sunday, citing the province's "deliberate disengagement" from the fight against terrorism.
TTAP demanded the release of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, PTI KP president Junaid Akbar and arrested MNAs and MPAs. It also sought the release of Imran Khan's sisters, held under MPO for about three weeks, as well as a meeting with Imran and access to his doctors.
The alliance reiterated its support for the National Action Plan and called for implementation of the Aman Jirga resolution passed by the KP Assembly. It also discussed dialogue in Balochistan and plans to approach international human rights organisations and the UN. More on Dawn.
