Thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters continued a march toward Islamabad on October 5 under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, demanding the release of former prime minister Imran Khan and raising other concerns over access and medical treatment.
Reuters and the Associated Press reported that the convoy began in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after talks between PTI and the federal government failed. Authorities have tightened security around Islamabad, while both sides blame each other for the collapse of negotiations.
Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. Dawn reported that they discussed the political and security situation and the constitutional possibility of governor's rule or an emergency.
No final decision to impose governor's rule has been announced. The option remains under discussion rather than in force.
