ISLAMABAD: According to The Express Tribune, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced that Canada will play a bilateral series in Islamabad from February 8 to 21, 2027, a move the federation says is aimed at reviving international hockey in the country.
The PHF said it will work with the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and other federal authorities on accommodation, transport, playing facilities and security for the visiting Canadian squad.
PHF president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and the federal secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination welcomed the tour as a chance to promote international hockey in Pakistan and strengthen sporting ties between the two countries.
The federation also said on Saturday that the senior national team has accepted an invitation to the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia in November 2026, while Pakistan's Under-21 side is already in Malaysia for the Sultan of Johor Cup.
The PHF said it is pursuing a development plan for its Under-18, Under-21, senior men's and women's teams, covering more international exposure, better coaching and training facilities, and improved financial incentives for players.
