RAWALPINDI: Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the One-day International tri-series opener, Dawn reported. Salman Ali Agha marked his return with 107 off 90 balls (10 fours, one six) — his third ODI century — as Pakistan posted 305 in 49.5 overs.
After openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub fell early, Babar Azam (45) and Saad Baig (39) added 74. Salman and Hasan Nawaz put on 97. Sri Lanka's Eshan Malinga took 4-46 as Pakistan managed only 36 in the last five overs while losing five wickets.
Sri Lanka looked set after Pavan Rathnayake and Janith Liyanage's 119-run stand, needing 53 more, before Liyanage chipped Haris Rauf to Babar Azam at long-on and Dasun Shanaka heaved Shaheen Shah Afridi to the same fielder. In four balls Sri Lanka unravelled.
Naseem Shah, a run-out and Haris Rauf then finished the innings as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 268 in 48.1 overs.
