QUETTA: Four militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan's Kalat district, while an army officer was martyred in an attack in Pasni tehsil of Gwadar, the military's media wing ISPR said on Monday, Dawn reported.
According to ISPR, security forces are conducting a series of operations in Shadi Kaur, Pasni, and Jattakabad, Kalat, on reports of multiple hideouts of "Fitna al Hindustan" — the label the state uses for Balochistan-based separatist groups.
ISPR said four militants were killed and a large cache of arms and ammunition recovered during an October 18 operation in Jattakabad. During clearance operations in Shadi Kaur, Major Wajahat Waheed, 34, a resident of Lahore who was leading the forward element, was martyred in an improvised explosive device attack.
The military said sanitisation operations would continue and that the counter-terrorism campaign under "Azm-e-Istehkam" would proceed at full pace. A day earlier, ISPR announced that eight militants had been killed in operations in Quetta, Nushki and Khuzdar.
According to War Monitor, the banned BLA had claimed that seven personnel, including Major Wajahat, were killed in an attack on a military convoy in the same Pasni area; the ISPR statement mentions the martyrdom of one officer.
