Police in Badhber, on the outskirts of Peshawar, shot down a drone on Sunday that was allegedly moving to target a police post, according to police sources. The drone came down in nearby farmland and no one was hurt.
Drone and quadcopter attacks on police stations and checkposts have been reported repeatedly across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent weeks, and the outskirts of the provincial capital have not been spared. The incident has not yet been independently verified.
Other security incidents were reported elsewhere in the province on the same day. According to sources, Zahid Hussain, a soldier of the army's 3rd AK Regiment, was killed in a sniper attack on a security post at Sernarai in the Makin area of South Waziristan. He was reportedly from Stak Valley in Roundu, Skardu. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility.
In Lakki Marwat, armed men reportedly abducted Dolat Khan, son of Pashak Khan, from the jurisdiction of Braghi police station; his whereabouts remain unknown. In Tank district, the TTP released a video claiming an attack on military personnel in the Umar Khan Kili area, without giving any casualty details.
Neither the ISPR nor provincial police had issued a statement on these incidents, and the claims remain unverified. Read about this week's bomb attack on a police vehicle in Bannu here.
