A quadcopter drone struck the headquarters of the security forces' 224 Wing in Shakai, South Waziristan, on October 25. Local sources say seven personnel were wounded, though there has been no official confirmation so far.

On the same day, a drone was reported near a joint Khyber Rifles checkpoint at Bhagyari, near Jamrud in Khyber district. According to sources, circulating footage shows personnel firing at the drone, and one soldier was reportedly injured.

In Bannu's Miryan area, gunmen attacked the Kangar Pull police checkpoint, triggering an exchange of fire. Details of any casualties were not immediately available. In Lakki Marwat, a man who had earlier been abducted was reportedly freed, while a member of the Mujahid Force from Esakkhel was reportedly abducted.

TTP claims six attacks

The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has issued six separate statements claiming attacks on security forces in Chitral, Khyber, Bannu, South Waziristan and North Waziristan on October 24 and 25. Its biggest claim concerns a drone attack on a military camp at Hindi Zhawar in Garyum, North Waziristan, where it alleges five soldiers were killed. None of the claims has been independently or officially verified, and the casualty figures remain unconfirmed.

The group also claimed attacks on a military post at Arsoon in Chitral's Drosh, the Bhagyari post in Jamrud, the Kangar Pull checkpoint in Bannu, and security positions near Azam Warsak and at Sley Rogha in Badr, South Waziristan, mostly without giving casualty figures.

Separately, the ISPR said six terrorists were killed and two soldiers martyred in an intelligence-based operation in Zarkani, Dera Ismail Khan, on October 24. Read the full report. The rising use of drones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's southern districts is emerging as a fresh challenge for security forces.
