Security forces killed nine terrorists in two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan's Kachhi and Wadh districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday, October 28. The military said the raids followed reports of militants belonging to what it calls 'Fitna al-Hindustan'.
According to ISPR, troops targeted a hideout in Kachhi district, where seven militants were killed in an intense exchange of fire and weapons and ammunition were recovered. In a separate operation in Wadh district, security forces tracked and intercepted militants on the move, killing two in the ensuing gunfight.
The military said a clearance operation was under way to eliminate any other militants in the area, adding that its counter-terrorism campaign under 'Azm-e-Istehkam' would continue at full pace. Last year the federal government designated all militant groups operating in Balochistan as 'Fitna al-Hindustan', accusing India of sponsoring them, a charge India denies.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces, saying the conspiracies of terrorists' foreign sponsors and their local facilitators would be foiled.
