Pakistan's federal cabinet has ratified a defence cooperation agreement with Kuwait. According to an official handout after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, the accord is intended to deepen institutional links between the two countries' armed forces.

The handout said the agreement was concluded on June 11, 2023, and that the Kuwaiti government ratified it on July 19. The cabinet also announced a competitive mechanism for allocating LPG quotas and extended the fuel subsidy scheme until the end of December.

Powers of the non-functional Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister were transferred to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, and the government said it had finalised a Rs160 billion security and development package for the province. New currency note designs and a Rs10 coin were covered in a separate earlier report.
