Authorities in Afghanistan's Panjshir province have inaugurated 32 new water supply networks to ease acute water shortages, the provincial government said in a statement. The projects, valued at $2.5 million, were launched in the provincial capital and several districts.
Officials said the systems would supply safe drinking water to roughly 16,000 households, bringing relief to communities that have long relied on limited and unreliable water sources.
Landlocked Afghanistan faces prolonged drought and growing pressure on its water resources, and the government has stepped up a nationwide programme of dams, water supply networks and irrigation canals.
