A two-day meeting of the Doha Process working groups on counter-narcotics and private-sector support began on Thursday in Termez, Uzbekistan. Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said delegations from relevant Islamic Emirate institutions were led by Sayed Mohiuddin Sadat, director of the ministry's UN and International Conferences Department.
The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), international organisations, Doha Process member states including host Uzbekistan, private-sector representatives and experts are also attending.
According to the ministry, discussions focus on standards and certification for Afghan agricultural products, export readiness, alternative livelihoods and inclusive economic growth. Participants are also expected to look at ways to strengthen the private sector, improve market access and find practical avenues for cooperation.
