Police in Ocala, Florida, have opened an internal investigation after an officer let a driver leave a roadside encounter and the same vehicle was involved minutes later in a crash that killed a mother and her adult son.

Spectrum News reported that Police Chief Mike Balken said officers should have done more to investigate a possible DUI or question the driver's level of intoxication. The victims were identified as DeLawn Marshall Duncan, 50, and her son Eric Maurice McGill, 31.
