Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health says construction of the 200-bed Kunar Provincial Hospital is progressing according to the approved plan. The project is intended to improve the hospital’s working environment, patient capacity and facilities for healthcare delivery.
The ministry said work includes standardizing different sections of the hospital and creating better conditions for medical staff, patients and visitors. It did not publish a current completion percentage or a final opening date.
Officials expect the expanded hospital to help meet more of Kunar’s healthcare needs locally and reduce pressure on existing facilities. Patients from remote areas currently face limited access to specialized services within the province.
