Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health has opened a 10-bed intensive care unit at Takhar Provincial Specialized Hospital. The ministry said the facility cost AFN 32 million and was financed from its internal budget.
Health and provincial officials attended the inauguration. The ministry said the unit is intended to strengthen specialized and critical-care services so severely ill patients can receive treatment closer to home rather than being transferred to larger cities.
The ICU has been put into service as part of the existing provincial hospital. Officials said expanding specialized care outside Kabul remains a priority for the national health system.
