Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health has signed a one-year agreement with the Organization for Research and Community Development to expand health services in Baghlan and Kandahar. The ministry values the programme at just over $103,016.
Five mobile health teams are expected to serve 44,050 residents in targeted areas of the two provinces. The project focuses on reducing maternal and child mortality and providing mental-health services, while creating 90 jobs in the health sector.
ORCD said the programme would be implemented over one year under established standards. Delivery will depend on sustained access, staffing, medicines and the ability of mobile teams to reach communities with limited permanent health facilities.
