The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that its fighters carried out 21 operations across Balochistan over one week, alleging that 16 Pakistani military personnel and four people it described as state operatives were killed.
A Baloch media outlet carrying the group-linked statement on October 1 said BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch described attacks on military camps, convoys, highways and other targets. The statement included casualty claims for individual incidents, but the aggregate claim of 20 deaths has not been independently verified and Pakistani authorities have not publicly confirmed that total.
The BLA also alleged that Pakistani state institutions were trying to portray it as linked with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed organizations. The group rejected that characterization and said it has no organizational, ideological or operational relationship with any other organization except BRAS. That assertion is the BLA’s own position.
Pakistani intelligence sources, meanwhile, have recently alleged through media briefings that the BLA, TTP, AQIS and other actors are involved in forms of cooperation or shared networks. Parts of those allegations have not been independently established, and the parties involved have issued competing accounts.
The latest statement is therefore being reported as a BLA operational and organizational claim. The claimed total of 21 operations, 16 soldiers killed and four additional deaths remains independently unverified.
