Karachi — Margalla News: Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani has addressed claims that Darul Uloom Karachi's construction projects and operating expenses are funded through its links with banks.
He said that impression was incorrect and that the institution relies on a range of financial sources for its departments and construction projects.
According to Mufti Taqi Usmani, some income comes from rents generated by shops and properties owned by the institution, while donors also contribute at different times. He said some major buildings were funded by specific individuals, including one entire building financed by a single donor, while several people contributed to the construction of Darul Hadith.
He said the institution seeks to follow the principle associated with its senior religious predecessors, particularly Maulana Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi, that a religious institution's primary reliance should not be on guaranteed financial streams or active solicitation but on trust in God.
Mufti Taqi Usmani said Darul Uloom does not make a practice of personally asking people for money, while benefactors may come forward voluntarily when needs arise.
He also said the institution maintains formal accounts and records of its financial transactions.
Darul Uloom Karachi's official website separately lists a Meezan Bank account and other methods through which supporters can contribute.
