Deutsche Telekom said on October 5 that wider use of artificial intelligence and automation could reduce its indirect costs by about €2.5 billion by 2030 compared with 2023. The figure is a company target rather than savings already realised.

At its AI Investor Day, the German telecom group said it is deploying AI across network operations, customer service, software development and administrative processes. The company says AI is already helping it identify mobile-network traffic peaks earlier and resolve customer-service issues more quickly.

Deutsche Telekom also said it aims to increase AI-related revenue from business customers outside the United States to about €800 million by 2030. Reuters separately reported the company's €2.5 billion savings target.

The company said its Frag Magenta chatbot handled about 2.6 million customer-service calls in the first half of 2026. It also said AI agents now handle 40% of customer contacts in the United States, where customer-service call volumes have fallen by 55%.
