Kabul — Margalla News: Former US special representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has criticised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's remarks at the UN General Assembly on the rights of Afghans, especially women and girls.
Ariana News reported that Sharif said the fundamental rights of the Afghan people, particularly women and girls, should be respected.
Responding on X, Khalilzad argued that Pakistan's policies over the past three decades raise questions about Islamabad's commitment to Afghan welfare.
He cited aspects of Pakistan's past regional policy and its treatment of Afghan refugees, and said Afghanistan and Pakistan need much better relations, adding that a “reset is necessary.”
