Reliance has welcomed competition in satellite communication, including from Elon Musk's Starlink, saying it has never feared competition.
In a statement on October 16, Reliance flagged that Jio's own satellite services are awaiting government clearances.
The statement comes after Musk accused Reliance of blocking Starlink's entry into India. The government rejected an allegation of discrimination on October 8.
Competition in satellite broadband could affect internet availability and prices in remote areas, where terrestrial networks are limited.
