A strong start against Sri Lanka

On Sunday Pakistan defended 305 to beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs. The visitors were well placed at 253 for five before Haris Rauf removed Janith Liyanage for 96, sparking a collapse in which Sri Lanka lost their last five wickets for 15 runs.

England in form

England recently won 2-1 in Sri Lanka and also beat India and Sri Lanka 2-1 at home. The teams last met in an ODI on November 11, 2023, in Kolkata at the World Cup, when England won by 93 runs.

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid is back after a hand injury and Sam Curran has recovered from a groin problem, but fast bowler Jofra Archer has been rested and Jos Buttler is out with a hamstring injury. Glamorgan leg-spinner Mason Crane returns to the England setup eight years after his last international appearance.

What Brook said

England captain Harry Brook said playing two good teams in different conditions would be a massive challenge, and that his side wants to adapt and find different ways to win.

Possible Pakistan change

Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim missed the opener through illness, and Pakistan may bring back at least one of them against England, the report said.
