Tuesday evening at Pindi Stadium belonged to a young all-rounder. Arafat Minhas first made a vital 59 with the bat and then returned career-best figures of 6-40 as Pakistan beat England by 87 runs in the ODI tri-series, according to The Express Tribune.

It was Pakistan's second straight win of the series, after they beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the opener.

Recovery after an early collapse

England chose to field and struck at once: Gus Atkinson removed Fakhar Zaman for a first-ball duck and Sonny Baker sent back Saim Ayub for eight. Babar Azam made 34 and Salman Agha 16, and when Saad Baig fell for 35 in the 28th over Pakistan were 133-5.

Hasan Nawaz and Minhas then turned the innings with a 78-run sixth-wicket stand. Hasan top-scored with 79 off 74 balls, including five fours and four sixes, while Minhas made 59 off 58 with nine boundaries. Faheem Ashraf's 39 off 26 balls lifted Pakistan to 302-9, with 52 runs coming in the last five overs.

Baker took 3-65 and Atkinson 2-35 for England.

Minhas rips through England

Chasing 303, Ben Duckett and Tom Banton put on 91 for the first wicket. Duckett fell for 45 off Haris Rauf, and Banton was out for 57 off 53 balls to Minhas.

Minhas then removed captain Harry Brook. Naseem Shah bowled Joe Root for 33 and Haris dismissed Sam Curran for 27, before Minhas took out Jordan Cox, Jamie Overton, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid in quick succession. Atkinson's run-out ended England's innings at 215 in the 39th over.

What comes next

With two wins from two games, Pakistan are well placed in the series, and Minhas's all-round display has given the team management a fresh option.
