A child was reportedly killed and three others injured on Saturday when a mortar shell struck a house in Garah Guldad village in Kulachi tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan district. The injured were a man, a woman and another child.
According to sources, angry residents later staged a protest at Hathala Chowk, burning tyres and blocking the Tank–Dera Ismail Khan Road. It is still unclear where the shell was fired from, and officials have not commented. The incident has not been independently verified.
Kulachi has been on edge. On the same day, 51 people, including 17 government officials, were reportedly abducted in the tehsil. Residents are now demanding protection and a transparent inquiry into the shelling.
