Afghanistan has secured three medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya through cycling and wushu. Cyclist Fariba Hashimi won silver in the women's road race, while wushu athletes Mohammad Khalid Hotak and Hamed Ashrafi earned bronze medals in their respective categories.
Hashimi completed the road race in 2 hours, 50 minutes and 5 seconds to finish second. Earlier in the Games she had placed seventh in the individual time trial. The silver medal is among Afghanistan's most prominent results at the event so far.
In wushu, Hotak competed in the under-70kg category and Ashrafi in the 65kg category. Their bronze medals took Afghanistan's overall medal count to three, while Afghan athletes have also competed in boxing, karate, triathlon and other sports during the Games.
