Peshawar — The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released a new video titled “Shaheen Jawan 9”. War Monitor reports that the footage features a man identified by the TTP as Daud Swati, whom the group says carried out the July suicide attack on the Manji Khel joint check post in Tank.
The identity of Daud Swati and the attribution presented in the video have not been independently confirmed.
The underlying attack occurred overnight on July 23-24 at the Manji Khel joint police and security checkpoint. Pakistan’s military said attackers tried to breach the post and, after being repelled, rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into its perimeter wall. Official reporting said 15 people were killed, including 12 military personnel, two police officers and one former Forest Department official.
The TTP also claimed responsibility for the July attack. The new video surfaced on September 28, while the attack referenced in it occurred in July.
