Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce says Afghan and Uzbek businesses signed 20 trade memorandums of understanding worth $267 million after a networking conference in Kabul. Ariana News reported that officials and private-sector representatives from Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region attended.
The talks focused on easier trade and transit procedures, fewer commercial barriers and possible use of Uzbekistan as a route for Afghan exports. Officials said exchanges between delegations had expanded economic contacts.
The memorandums cover food products, clothing, construction, livestock, electrical equipment and furniture. The $267 million figure is the announced value of the MoUs; implementation will depend on subsequent commercial agreements and company decisions.
