The first joint Afghanistan-Uzbekistan light industries exhibition concluded in Termez after three days, giving Afghan producers and traders an opportunity to introduce their goods to the Uzbek market. TOLOnews reported that 30 of the event’s 63 booths were allocated to Afghan participants.
Products on display included carpets, handicrafts, clothing, leather goods, saffron and dried fruits. Afghan exhibitors said trade fairs outside the country can help buyers become more familiar with locally produced goods and create new commercial contacts.
The total value of sales or contracts from the event was not announced. The exhibition nevertheless provided a direct platform for small and medium businesses to display products and explore export opportunities.
