Chilas — Three security personnel were wounded when a Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts patrol vehicle came under fire near Sher Nala, close to Bashidas Zero Point on the Karakoram Highway.
According to an official statement, the incident occurred at about 9:35 p.m. on September 27 when a vehicle of the 116 Wing Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts was fired on from the mountainous side.
The wounded included one GB Scouts soldier and two Special Security Unit police personnel. They were taken to the Bashidas FWO Hospital for first aid and later referred to the Regional Headquarters Hospital in Chilas.
The Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister ordered police and other law-enforcement agencies to identify and arrest those responsible and directed that search, combing and surveillance operations be strengthened in Sher Nala, Bashidas and adjoining areas.
No group has claimed responsibility and authorities have not announced a confirmed motive or identity for the attackers.
