Pakistan has increased the price of petrol by Re0.88 per litre while reducing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs1.88 per litre. Dawn reported that the revised rates took effect on Tuesday, October 6, following a Petroleum Division notification.
Petrol now retails at Rs393.64 per litre, up from Rs392.76. High-speed diesel has been reduced from Rs399.64 to Rs397.76 per litre.
Dawn reported that the government is currently levying Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on high-speed diesel.
Fuel prices in Pakistan have moved frequently in recent months amid the Middle East conflict and volatility in global oil markets. Dawn reported that high-speed diesel reached Rs520.35 per litre in April, while petrol peaked at Rs458.41 per litre during the same period.
