The Afghan government says 89 traders and industrialists transferred capital into the country over the past two years, investing a combined $68 million. Ariana News reported that deputy government spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat said the projects had created more than 4,000 direct jobs.
Fitrat said the group included one large investor, 74 medium-scale investors and 14 smaller investors. Authorities allocated a combined 288 jeribs of land to them in industrial parks and said administrative support had been provided.
Officials added that documents from another 15 traders and investors were under review. The $68 million investment and employment figures are government-reported totals; the report did not provide a project-by-project audited breakdown.
