Afghanistan moved 704,300 metric tonnes of goods through its railway network in August 2026, according to the Ministry of Public Works. Ariana News reported that the total included petroleum products, non-petroleum goods and other imports and exports.
Hairatan handled 464,767 tonnes, Khaf-Herat 137,687 tonnes, Torghundi 62,015 tonnes and Aqina 39,831 tonnes. The ministry also said 3,751 tonnes of carbonated beverages were exported by rail during the month.
Officials say expanding rail capacity can give traders more transport options, support exports and increase public revenue. The figures are official monthly statistics covering activity on Afghanistan’s four main railway routes.
