According to War Monitor, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for five attacks on police and security forces in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber and South Waziristan. Statements attributed to the group circulated on October 22 and say the attacks took place on October 21.
What the group claims
The TTP says one police officer was killed in an attack on the Aman Mela checkpoint in Darazinda, Dera Ismail Khan, and another security official died in an attack on a military post in Tirah Maidan, Khyber district.
In South Waziristan, it claims one security official was killed and two injured in the Toi Khulla area, and it also reports attacks on security installations in Shakai and Badr, alleging possible casualties and damage to military equipment. Taken together, the group claims three security personnel killed and two injured. None of the attacks, casualties or damage has been independently confirmed.
Mohmand: commander's death claimed
Separately, War Monitor reports that pro-government social media accounts claim suspected militant commander Zulqarnain Mehsud was killed in a security operation in Mohmand district on October 21, with funeral prayers held there the same day. The claim rests on a post by the X account The Insights Operation, which gave no verifiable details of how he died, and there has been no official confirmation.
Southern Punjab statement and video
War Monitor on X also reports a statement attributed to Saad Muhajir claiming the TTP has strengthened its presence in southern Punjab and disputing official militant casualty figures. A video described as a TTP message to the Pakistani public is also circulating online. War Monitor says neither the statement's claims nor the video's authenticity has been verified.
Awaiting an official response
Neither the ISPR nor the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration has responded to the claims. Security in the province remains a national focus since governor's rule was imposed.
